My uterus.
I went to the hospital yesterday for a pregnancy check-up. Everything’s perfect. But as the doctor was feeling my uterus, he asked if I was certain of the dates. I’m not. Because this baby wasn’t exactly ‘planned’, as such, I wasn’t taking notice of when my periods were. So I told him that, and he said that he thought I was more like 18 weeks, instead of 15! He told me to go to the doctor this week, and get an ultrasound (because if he’s right, it would be time for the 18-20 week ultrasound anyway). So I went to the doctor yesterday too, and he said I felt about 18 weeks along, too. I have an ultrasound on Monday, so I’ll find out for sure then.
Isn’t that weird? It’ll be like fast-forwarding three weeks! But even though two separate doctors have said that I’m probably 18 weeks, I’m not so sure. I worked out the dates as best I could from previous periods (I knew when the one before was). So I doubt that I could be a whole three weeks off in my calculations. BUT, it would explain why at my last doctor’s appointment, she was surprised at how much weight I have put on. And why I have been experiencing the symptoms that are delegated to around the 18-week mark in pregnancy books.
Patience, Alyssa. You’ll find out on Monday.
I hope the doctors are right. Then we’ll get to meet NJ earlier than expected! He / she will be able to spend this Christmas with us. And also, if they are wrong, then I’ll have to get another ultrasound at 18-20 weeks, which will put me back another $150 (well, really only $60, as we get $90 back from Medicare. But still, it’s a lot of money, especially to pay twice in about 3 weeks).
Gloria Jeans’ Decaf Chocolate Macadamia Lattes rock. I’m fully into the decaf thing now. I never thought I would be. Decaf just seems really weird.
Speaking of things I crave but am not allowed to have - as soon as the baby’s born, I am going to eat SO MUCH sushi from the place near my work. Every time I walk past, I am tempted to get some. But no. Bad.

Hi Alyssa
That's very good news for you. Congratulations. YOu get a baby a whole 3 weeks earlier.
Yay! Well keep me posted. I'm going to lunch.
It would be awesome. I am really hoping they're right. :o)
I will post on Monday afternoon when I get back from the ultrasound, possibly. If not, I'll still send you an email and let you know what happened.
Even if you're "only" 15 weeks, it will still be exciting to have the ultrasound. :) It would be cool to fast forward 3 weeks though.
For sure. :o) So no matter what, we get to see the baby on Monday! Woohoo!
So, it's Monday. What's going on? How was the ultrasound?
A, thanks for reminding me. I was being slack. :o)
